National Knitting Week

National Knitting Week is a chance for UK knitters to get together nationwide, join with new knitters and old friends and celebrate the craft and art of knitting. Started in 2005 by Knitting magazine, events are held across the country.

Here at IKL we'll be celebrating with a whole week of special events..all FREE. See below for the current doings and join our free weekly e-newsletter for regular updates.

Sunday 12th October: kick off NKW with us at our first Sunday Knit Roast! A new monthly knitting group, meeting on a Sunday afternoon at a London pub - put together knitting, drinking, good company and a classic roast dinner. At The Phoenix, just off Oxford Circus, from 12pm...Click here for directions
Monday 13th October: Pub Quiz at I Knit London! A special one-off pub quiz night, with pictures, music and fiendish questions...and some fabulous prizes. Get yourself a team of four or less together - knitty knowledge NOT essential! From 6.30pm...Entry is £1 per person, with all money going to Bliss, NKW'snominated charity.
Wallace and Gromit Big Tea Party Tuesday 14th October: Tuesday Tea-Time! Every Tuesday night from 6pm come along and take part in the world record attempt to make the biggest hand-knit tea cosy. We're helping the Wallace and Gromit Children's Foundation to celebrate the Great British Tea Party and raise money for children across the UK...tea and cakes provided!
Knitting and Crochet Guild Wednesday 15th October: KCG Night. Join us for our regular Wednesday knitting group session and meet Martine, the Chair of the Knitting and Crochet Guild who'll be along to talk about the Guild's work, show off some of their stuff and offer reduced price membership!
Vintage Knitwear Thursday 16th October: Vintage Knitwear for Modern Knitters - a special presentation and booksigning by Lise-Lotte Lystrup, author of this brilliant new book which updates some classic, stylish knitting patterns of the 1940s and 1950s for modern yarns and modern knitters. Free from 6pm...
