This year's two-day I Knit Weekender will play host to a brilliant selection of classes, workshops and presentations covering everything from children's crochet classes to Fair Isle techniques and modular knitting.

Alice Starmore has been knitting almost all her life. She has published a number of knitting books, many now out-of-print and highly sought after, and is one the most renowned authorities on Celtic and Fair Isle techniques. Her work now spans design, photography and textiles and, with her daughter Jade, she produces her own range of yarns from her home in the Scottish Islands. Alice will be hosting her own Fair Isle workshops on both days, and will be discussing Influences on Design in her special presentation. BOOK NOW>>>>

Joining us from her home in Canada, Debbie New is arguably the most inventive knitting designer of her generation. Her seemingly limitless scope for experimenting with shape, style, colour and texture has created some of the most esoteric and extraordinary pieces of knitwear and artwork you'll ever see (knitted teacup, pictured). Debbie will be hosting three workshops (Ouroborus, Cellular Automaton and Swirl Knitting) and one presentation, and will be signing copies of her aptly-named book Unexpected Knitting over the course of the show. A native of Ohio, Annie Modesitt taught herself to knit at age 25. She is the author of a number of her own books, and her work has appeared many other knitting books and magazines, including Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Stitch N' Bitch, Scarf Style, Weekend Knitting and many more.

Annie knits using the Combination Method and believes that there truly is no wrong way to knit. Annie will be hosting four separate workshops at the show covering Combination, Lace and Modular Knitting and a special combined class with a little bit of everything!BOOK NOW>>>>

Biggan Dups has been knitting since she was four years old and has built on her skills learned as a child in Sweden to create Biggan Design Pty Ltd, designing her own patterns and creating her own range of colourful garments and accessories using the Biggan Design DK First Cross merino yarns from her new homeland, Australia.

Biggan will be offering two classes, the first sharing her native skills in Continental Knitting and the second in Finishing Techniques to make sewing-up syndrome a thing of the past! BOOK NOW>>>>

Gwen Raftery is part of the I Knit London team of teachers, regularly teaching beginner's and more advanced techniques at the shop in Waterloo. Gwen is a life long knitter, designer and teacher and we're thrilled that she is part of of our weekend with a new spin on one of our most popular classes! Her Top-Down Raglan Cardigan class is the perfect way to tackle your first big project. Knit in miniature, the skills learnt can then be easily applied to an adult-sized project. BOOK NOW>>>>

Miriam Tegels will to teach her fast knitting method in a one and a half hour class. With minimal finger movements and no strain on wrists or shoulders her method will be very welcome to those who suffer from pain in those joints while knitting. A limited group of 15 students.

Miriam became the official World's Fastest Knitter in 2006. She is in the Guinness Book of Records. She discribes her knitting method as 'Simplyfied Continental' and has been teaching and demonstrating the method in Europe, Hong Kong and the USA. Joyce Meader is a historical hand-knitting expert. She has a wide and extensive collection of commercially printed patterns from the 1840s to the present day. These patterns are used to hand knit items for museums, re-enactors and for private commissions and she has knitted for The National Army Museum Chelsea, Museum of Army Flying Middle Wallop and the Mountain Heritage Trust Mallory Collection. We welcome Joyce to IKW where she will be hosting a free presentation and discussion of Knitted Comforts for Your Soldiers from Crimea to Today and showing some of her vast collection. FREE.
Marjan Hammink is the Netherlands' (even Europe's) best sock designer! Known through her website and Ravelry as Yarnissima, she will be bringing her unique sock skills to the I Knit Weekender for her Socks Upside Down workshop. Pat Ashforth and Steve Plummer are designers of mathematical knitwear...or perhaps they are mathematical designers of knitwear. Their designs use simple geometric shapes combined to make elaborate patterns and they are now best known for their collection of large-scale knit and crochet afghan and cushion designs. But don't let the maths put you off! Pat and Steve's unusual approach to Maths ensures that their workshops are accessible to all. Sandra Polley has had many years' experience with crafts, especially knitting and soft toy making. She has a particular interest in making and collecting miniature teddy bears. She started to design her traditionally-styled knitted bears a few years ago and now runs a successful business selling her knitting patterns and kits worldwide. Her teddy bear patterns have featured in a number of magazines and in their own book, The Knitted Teddy Bear. Techniques you'll learn in Sandra's Knitting for Dolls workshop can later be applied to adult-size garments too. BOOK NOW>>>>
Susan Crawford has spent 16 years working as a knitwear designer, knitting teacher and lecturing in fashion and textiles. In 2006 she launched www.knitonthenet.com, the highly successful online knitting magazine and sponsor of the I Knit Weekender. Susan is co-author (and publisher) of the newly republished A Stitch in Time, and her own designs (under the name Just call me Ruby) have featured in the online magazine knitty.com and in books and magazines. Susan's Make-do and Mend workshop is a highlight of the weekend, and her presentation on Vintage Knitwear is not to be missed! BOOK NOW>>>>

Sandy Black helped lead the knitwear revolution of the 1970s when fashion knitwear turned a craft into an art. Sandy has been involved in fashion design for over 30 years and her designs have been widely published in her own books and in other volumes. As a freelance designer she has worked for Rowan, Jaeger and the BBC amongst others. In recent years her encyclopaedic knowledge of the fashion industry has seen her lecturing and touring extensively. Her book, Knitwear in Fashion, is the last word on the subject. We're thrilled that Sandy will be discussing knitwear in fashion at her free presentation at 12pm on Friday. FREE.

Dutch Knitters Hold on to your hats! The Dutch Knitters are back! Knitting is chocolate for the mind... Using this motto The Dutch Knitters bring back to life the age-old craft of knitting. The Dutch Knitters are a collective of talented individuals from the Netherlands with various skills to share with Brit knitters. We are delighted to offer classes taught by a brilliant bunch of fantasic knitters! Since the age of 3, Ruth Paisley (aka Woolly Wormhead) has had a life-long love affair with textiles. Ruth's passion for hand-dying, spinning and craft work extends beyond a hobby into a way of life. Her unique, sculptural designs have featured in numerous websites and magazines and she currently has two books available from Arbour House: Wee Woolly Toppers and Going Straight: A New Generation of Knitted Hats. A qualified Art and Textile teacher, Ruth has taught all age groups in knitting, textiles and other disciplines.
